Q: Can I switch my insurance before renewal?

A: Yes you can. In most cases, you are entitled to a full refund of the unearned premium from your current carrier.

Q: Do I need to contact the motor vehicle department to let them know of my new insurance company?

A: No. In New York, it is electronically done for you, and in Pennsylvania, the insurance company notifies the motor vehicle department for you.

Q: Is the rate I get in the first year an introductory rate?

A: No. However, insurance companies may increase rates based on several factors, including performance. Representing several insurance companies is what makes The Ahearn Agency unique. We will shop your policy for you at your request on your insurance-renewal anniversary — that's "The Freedom of Choice Plan"!

Q: Do I need to contact my current insurance agent to cancel my policy if I switch?

No. We will have you sign a release that allows our office to do that for you, so all you have to do is save money!

Q: How do I know that I am getting the same coverage I currently have?

A: During the process, we ask that you provide a copy of your current declarations page. This is the page in your current policy that explains your coverage overview. We will then compare our coverage side by side with your current insurance policy. We also offer annual reviews, so your coverage keeps up with your changing life.

Q: Do I need to get new license plates when I switch insurance companies?

A: No.
